Job Summary

Position and Responsibilities

  • Perform static and dynamic analyses as well as fatigue and damage tolerance analyses for cabin completion and modification projects
  • Support the Team Leader Mechanical Design Engineering to develop working methods to ensure an efficient work flow
  • Ensure correct consideration and application of Certification Basis, Rules and
    Regulations, Means of Compliance and Interpretations
  • Ensure adequate communication and liaison internally, especially with the Engineering Team as well as with external Third Parties

Job Skills

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering or relevant field
  • Profound knowledge of fundamental physics, technical mechanics, thermodynamics, aerospace technology and materials
  • Minimum 5 years structural substantiation experience
  • Proactive behaviour with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – additionally French and/or German is advantageous
  • Experienced FEM user (Femap). Experience with CAD software (AutoCad, CATIA, Solidworks). Proficient in MS Office. VBA programming skills are advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Accurate and strong attention to detail and safety
  • Ideally aerospace engineering background, alternatively automotive / transportation experience

Job Description

Key Aspects of the Activity                                                      

  • Static, dynamic and fatigue calculations of different installations (e.g. interior monuments, antennae installation, additional water tank, etc.) in airplanes with different methods (e.g. Finite-Element-Analysis and hand calculations).
  • Review and approval of drawings and designs for stress aspects
  • Work out of repairs and modifications in regard of stress
  • Consulting with the mechanical design engineering to achieve light and cost saving structure solutions
  • Development of technical as well as safety and certification relevant documentation such like reports, analysis, assessments
  • Establishment of FEM models and Structural Substantiation Reports
  • Development and procurement of material testing
  • Development of engineering standards
